The Endless Mountains War Memorial Museum, in Sonestown, will pay tribute to thank veterans who served and those that were lost in the Viet Nam War on Sat. July 4th, at the Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This year's tribute will feature a combat veteran who flew missions as a door gunner on a helicopter in Viet Nam and will be sharing his experiences with our visitors. He will be speaking at 1 p.m. Also, an outdoor display and tribute to Sullivan County's lone casualty, Raymond Paul McMahon, from Dushore who served in the 1st Cavalry Division. Period music and documentary videos from the period will be played throughout the day. |
Viet Nam vets or their families are encouraged to bring period memorabilia for display, for the day, or just come and share their stories with us and our visitors.
This has been a growing event through the years and there is no admission charge but donations are accepted. Please come and help us thank these veterans whom we owe so much and who didn't get the welcome and recognition as all our veterans deserve when they come home from war.
