TOWANDA — New this year for Child Hunger Outreach Partners (CHOP) will be a Cornhole Tournament to help support their programs such as the in-school pantries and backpack program.
“We currently serve 26 schools/youth programs in Bradford County through our In-School Pantry and Backpack Programs. We serve an average of 5,000 Bradford County children each week through the Backpack program and In-School Pantries,” Samantha Eck, Communications Manager for CHOP.
The tournament will take place at 11 a.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20, at Keystone College in Towanda. Cost for the event is $25 for single players and $50 for teams. All single players will be paired with another single player to help make teams for the tournament.
“We were looking for a fun way to bring the community together for a great cause. Cornhole is fun and anyone can participate regardless of age or skill,” said Eck.
Cash prizes will be awarded to first ($300), second ($200) and third ($100) place winners.
CHOP will also host more events throughout the year. For the month of February, they are hosting a purse lotto and drawing every night.
“We are hosting our Purse Lotto during the month of February, our Annual Golf Tournament in May and we recently launched $5 Fridays, which allows donors to feed one child for month by giving $5 a month,” said Eck.

“Financial gifts make the greatest impact, as we are able to purchase food products cheaper than someone could from a grocery store,” said Eck.
