TROY — The Troy Chamber of Commerce discussed Halloween festivities at their Oct. 7 meeting at Vinnie’s II.
The plan for Halloween this year is a “stationary parade,” which means parade entrants’ floats/tents are immobile. These entries will be assigned a space with a minimum of 25 feet from another group. Spectators will be able to walk by the parade entries from 3-6 p.m. Appropriate masking and social distancing consistent with COVID-19 guidance will be expected of all attendees and participants.
Applications for entries will be due on Oct. 23 at 5 p.m. Completed applications MUST be submitted by email to troypachamberevents@gmail.com. Acceptance will be awarded on a rolling basis as space permits, so it is encouraged to apply early on.
Priority will be given to Troy Chamber members, businesses or organizations representing Troy Area School District and any non-profits in Bradford County.
This year’s theme for the stationary parade is “Edgar Allan Poe.” Awards will be given as followed: Best in Theme, Best Group Costumes, Most Creative Float/Booth, Most Creative Candy/Goody Delivery System. The winning entry in each category will be announced on the Troy Chamber of Commerce’s Facebook page after the event, with the winner in each category winning a $25 Troy Chamber of Commerce gift card.
If there is hazardous weather or health conditions in the community warrant, the parade will be cancelled and not rescheduled. Participants will be notified by Thursday, Oct. 29, if that is the case.
To obtain a copy of the float application, including rules concerning the stationary parade, go to the Chamber’s Facebook site.
