The 31st annual Guthrie Gallop will be held May 9 at the Sayre Theatre, 205 S. Elmer Ave. in Sayre, Pa. This event includes a 5K road race, 10K road race, a 5K walk and a Kids’ Fun Run. To register visit www.guthrie.org/gallop. The race schedule is as follows:

This year, the Auxiliary is pleased to award two scholarships to deserving students.
Applicants for the scholarship must be a resident of Bradford or Sullivan County and must have completed one semester of the nursing program. Applicants must have a grade point average of 85% or higher and be paying cash or receiving loans for their nursing education in order to qualify. Additionally, applicants submit an essay on the reason for selecting practical nursing as their career choice. First Citizens Community Bank representatives Lorraine Brown and Thomas “T” Thompson III present a $1,000 check to support the Memorial Hospital Ambulance Fundraising Campaign. Recently, a new Chevy diesel ambulance was added to the existing fleet of emergency vehicles. “We appreciate First Citizens Community Bank’s generosity. The addition of the new ambulance will greatly increase the efficiency of the area’s emergency response operations,” said Wendy Allen-Smith, Emergency Management Services Manager. Thanks to a generous $24,495 gift from the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, patients in the hospital have 35 beautiful new bedside 14-inch flat panel LED televisions to enjoy. For extra convenience, the TVs are mounted on extendable and retractable arms. Susan White, RD, LDN, Registered Dietitian Do you ever get overwhelmed with so many choices at the grocery store? Do you ever wonder if you are purchasing healthy food for you and your family? Do you sometimes think food labels are confusing and hard to understand? Memorial Hospital’s Registered Dietitian, Susan White, will be leading small group tours inside the Tops Friendly Market located in the Bradford Town Center, Wysox, on March 26 and 30, at 10:30 a.m. Participants will gain hands-on experience on how to make healthy food choices throughout the grocery store. It’s a great place to learn and discover new food options. You will explore the supermarket aisles with Sue who will help you decipher food labels, assist you in making health choices for you and your family and she will answer your questions. Two adult students have completed training requirements and passed the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, Motor Vehicle Association drivers test to earn their Commercial Driver’s License. James Havard and John Stead successfully earned their CDL Class A license through training received at the Northern Tier Career Center. |
