The 58th annual commencement ceremony of the Dr. Earl D. Smith School of Radiologic Technology was held on July 10 in the Petrie Conference Center at Arnot Ogden Medical Center.

A Taste of the Endless Mountains to Return in October
The 2015 growing season is in full swing, and local agricultural producers are bringing a bounty of fresh vegetables, fruits and handmade crafts to a farmers market near you. Members of Northern Tier Buy Fresh Buy Local (NTBFBL) are anxious to get the word out about the many locations where their products are available, as well as direct marketing options. Walmart and Sam's Club stores recently wrapped up a six-week campaign to raise funds for Children's Miracle Network Hospitals across the country. Arnot Health partnered with five Walmart stores and one Sam’s Club to raise $58,000 in our region. Arnot Ogden Medical Center will use the funds to purchase life saving equipment and support neonatal and pediatric services. Together, Arnot Health, Walmart and Sam’s Club stores hosted a variety of fundraising activities such as bake sales, Mother’s Day activities, barbeques to help make this campaign an outstanding success. “We are so grateful to Walmart and Sam’s club’s associates, members and customers for the commitment they have made to the children in our community,” said Alene Goodman of Children’s Miracle Network at Arnot Health. Chemung Canal Trust Company has announced that Anders M. Tomson has been named President and Chief Operating Officer of the bank. Ronald M. Bentley will continue to serve as the bank's Chief Executive Officer.
Tomson, 48, currently serves as the President of Capital Bank, a division of Chemung Canal Trust Company. He has served in that position since Chemung Canal acquired Capital Bank in April 2011. For the immediate future he will continue to serve as Division President. Chemung Canal's offices in Albany and Saratoga counties operate under the name Capital Bank. The Arnot Ogden Medical Center Auxiliary will hold a Vendor Variety Sale from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, July 17 in the Petrie Conference Center on the ground floor of the hospital.
Vendors will be offering a wide range of items including jewelry, collectibles, home decorating accessories, food and kitchen ware, skin care products and more. Proceeds will benefit the Auxiliary’s $750,000 pledge toward construction of the newly opened 4D and 5D patient care units at the hospital. Claverack Rural Electric Cooperative will return $1.1 million to members and former members of the cooperative in June. The refunds are the result of action by the Claverack board of directors to approve the retirement of $1.1 million in capital credits during its April board meeting.
Animal Care Sanctuary is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Denise Drabick as the new Wellsboro Director. Denise comes with extensive background having been Principal of the Southern Tioga School District for over ten years and an Online Instructor for Humane Education University and DeSales University. She has volunteered for Animal Care Sanctuary since they started operating the Wellsboro shelter in 2011. She traveled to Charleston, SC to receive training to present the Veterinary Science Initiative in the schools in Tioga County, which has been enthusiastically received and will continue to expand over the next school year. By volunteering as a host family in the Southwest Seneca Lake Area, you can help give a child a break from the heat and noise of the crowded city streets while enjoying your own backyard! The Fresh Air Fund is currently seeking more families to give inner-city children a Fresh Air experience this summer.
