The Township has expressed interest in purchasing an excavator to be used for ditch work, mowing and similar tasks that the backhoe is not suited for due to its size. At tonight's meetings representatives from dealers for JCB and Caterpillar were present to discuss their machines and to answer questions from the Supervisors. Each had sent machines to the township which were used by Mr. Petrowski and Assistant Cale Holmes for demonstrations. Mr. Petrowski said, "We appreciate you letting us use them. Both did excellent jobs. Both are good machines, both performed very well; we both like both of them." Mr. Ferguson said that the Supervisors would discuss the matter.
The minutes of the June meeting were approved. Solicitor Harold Caldwell submitted a written report on various junkyard ordinance violations. The township will be more aggressive against those are operating a junkyard without a permit. Mr. Caldwell wrote that actions such as liens or forfeiture could take place through the Court of Common Pleas. Mr. Smith said that some the violations are "a disgrace" and said that property owners should comply with the law and erect a fence to cover those items that they are not using. There was a lengthy discussion, and Ms. Blaney will draft a letter in consultation with the Solicitor; after it is reviewed by the Supervisors, the letter will be sent to the violators in question. It will give them a period of time to clean up the violations, including vehicles that are not able to be driven, or erect a fence.
The treasurer's report was approved with these balances: General Fund, $119,070.06; Liquid Fuels, $169,260.20; EZ Access CD, $75,670.89; 36-month fixed CD, $50,671.37; Impact Fee/Capital Reserve, $65,674.76; Fire Escrow Insurance, $9,900.40; Towanda Creek Watershed, $5.
Playground equipment has been ordered for Minnequa Springs Park. A slide and benches will be delivered this week. Once the lot has dried from recent rains the equipment will be installed according to manufacturer recommendations.
The Supervisors voted to purchase a Henke snowplow from Watson Diesel at a cost of $10,663.10. This will be used with the grader.
Bradford County will replace roadsigns through the office of Planning and Grants. There is a deadline of July 17 to submit a list.
The service contract with Bassett Engineering is up for renewal at a cost of $1,500.
A Certificate of Occupancy was issued for the Shetler addition.

The Supervisors voted to pay half of the cost for Excel Training for Ms. Blaney. Ward Township will pay the other half.
Mr. Ferguson, Mr. Smith and Mr. Petrowski plan to attend the Equipment Show in Troy. Mr. Petrowski said that a Dirt & Gravel Roads workshop that he attended was "Very helpful. It showed a lot of things that we hadn't thought of."
