The Supervisors approved the minutes of the May meeting.
There was a visitor from Warner Tractor who provided information on an excavator. The township is considering purchasing a mini-excavator to be used on certain projects and to save wear and tear on the backhoe. Mr. Ferguson said the information was appreciated and would be reviewed but no decision would be made at tonight's meeting.
Mrs. Deeghan delivered tax payments of $4,360.89.
The treasurer's report was approved with these balances: General Fund, $161,411.37; State Liquid Fuels, $182,422.30; EZ Access CD, $75,658.45; 36-month CD, $50,595.68; Impact Fund, Capital Reserve, $77,967.24; Fire Escrow Insurance, $9,900; Towanda Creek Watershed, $5.00.
The Supervisors voted to purchase a Henke snowplow from Watson Diesel. Mr. Petrowski said "it's a lot nicer for dirt roads. It will be easier to push and will not dig up the roads". The trailer approved last month has been ordered. There is a 110-day lead time.
Mr. Petrowski said that work on Brague Road has been completed, with Wight, Buchanan and VanDyke Roads next. A section of VanDyke Road will be widened.
The Supervisors said the township will provide 200 feet of dust oil free for each property. Owners can pay for additional footage to be oiled at a cost of $70 per 100 feet.
Mr. Smith expressed frustration that several landowners have failed to clean up junk on their properties to the satisfaction of the Supervisors. He said that if people want to operate a junk yard they should build a fence or clean their property up. Ms. Blaney will contact the Solicitor to encourage him to be more aggressive in encouraging the owners to clean up the Navone, Parks, and Spencer properties and the former Grover Milk Plant.
The township has been reviewing prices of playground equipment to be installed at the Minnequa Springs Park. Ms. Blaney was given permission to proceed with the purchase of a dome, a teeter-totter, a slide and two spring rides, plus protective material to guard against injuries. etc. The cost will be a bit under $8,000. The items will not be ordered until the agency assisting with federal guidelines and layout has completed its recommendations.
The Township voted to order from Matt Clark a sign, three feet by eight feet, 3/4" border, reading "Minnequa Springs Park" on both sides. This will have raised lettering, three coats of paint on the sign and four coats, with clear coat on the letters. The price will be $1,600. Mr. Clark will provide a price on redoing the Township's sign at the Municipal driveway.
The Supervisors voted to purchase Microsoft Word suite for $200. This can be used on Ms. Blaney's computer as well as the Auditors' computer.
The Supervisors voted to make a donation of $1,500 to Canton Borough for the War Memorial Pool and a donation of $1,000 to the Green Free Library.
Canton Township does not have an Ag Security Area, but have given consent for qualifying properties to join the Granville Township Ag Security Area. Permission was granted for the McCullins property to join the area and it is expected the Nolt property also will seek to join.
The Conservation District has approved a general permit acknowledgment of the Beaver Dam pipeline and the NPDES permit for stormwater discharges associated with construction.
Approval letters were received for subdivisions for Thomas & Sally Roe, Beaver Dam Energy LLC and Alpaca Energy LLC.
Chesapeake has applied for permits to drill four wells in LeRoy Township, on the properties Duane & Carrie Wilcox, James & Michelle Jennings, Scott, Edward & Jane Moore, and Fred and Judith Wilcox.
