CANTON — Canton Chamber of Commerce met via Teams for the June 3 meeting.
Robyn Cummings noted that Troy Chamber of Commerce has invited Canton’s Chamber to a picnic after work (5 p.m.) on Wednesday, July 7. Rather than a July meeting, chamber members may attend this event with Troy Chamber members. Please bring a dish to pass. Troy will provide the meats.
Eric noted that the photo booth has been proving extra income for the chamber, noting that it was rented out three separate times the last couple of weeks.
The discussion of postcards and racks were brought up, with chamber members deciding to refresh the stock and collect money from the chamber members who have racks. That is planned to be done in the next week or so.
Rachel reported on behalf of Lee English, who could not attend the meeting, stating that the V.I.A. is disbanding, and will use the current funds they have to donate to the Senior Center and the Green Free Library.
The Garden Club is hosting a plant sale on Saturday, June 5, from 8 a.m. to noon in the mini park.
Website
Tami reported that there is now an alpha list of all the members of the chamber on the Chamber of Commerce website. She plans to add new images of chamber members once those are completed, instead of using stock photos, which will help make the website more personable.
She also noted that the Canton Downtown Celebration now has its own section on the events portion of the website, and the former Apple & Cheese website will now direct people to the chamber’s new website. Hopefully, she will be able to add a vendor list once that becomes available.
Canton Downtown
Celebration
Canton Downtown Celebration is Saturday, July 10, from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. downtown in the mini park.
The committee is still going through vendor applications and plans to extend applications out now to groups/organizations who have not previously participated in the Wine & Cheese Festival.
The event will be coinciding with the block dance, which will be from 7-10 p.m. at the same location.
The committee is working on logistics of where booths will be set up in the mini park and back parking lot. They are also working on advertising and publicity, banner orders, and more.
Tami asked about sponsorship forms, and will be notified about them when there is an answer.
Please be on the lookout for emails to chamber members about this event and how your business can get involved, whether it be a sale and to be open that day, or if you’d like to further help.
Tourism Agency
The second set of panels are planned to be done within the next week. Robyn announced that the third set is set for Troy in July.
The passport program will be going digital and be available on the Bradford County Tourism and Promotion Agency’s website. It is planned for the fall.
The Tourism Agency has been working with both the Endless Mountains Heritage Region as well as the Visitor’s Bureau on a bike packing route. It will be a four-county region, with 300 miles covered. More information will be available at a later date.
Robyn and Eric talked briefly about naming certain paths for Canton Chamber and possibly doing a chamber event next year that relates to gravel path biking.
Rialto
The Rialto Theatre is planning to open on July 1, with their first movie being Fast and Furious 9. Days open will be
Thursdays to Sundays. The committee plans to meet soon. As of now, Bradford County Regional Arts Center is participating in an online fundraiser at www.NEPAgives.org. It’s similar to an online telethon. Elaine Poost also mentioned BRAC’s Friday nights on the Lawn in Sayre.
Membership
Chamber discussed the possibility of giving a new member 50% off for the rest of the year, as long as payment is made before July 1.
The next official Canton Chamber of Commerce meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 5, at noon at Minnequa Park. For more information on Chamber happenings, check out the new website at: www.cantonareachamberofcommerce.com.
