She said that businesses should realize the power of social media as a tool for promotion. "We want people to know us, we want people to like us and we want people to trust us. Businesses can market themselves in a variety of channels," including social media as well as the traditional types of media such as newspapers, radio, and magazines.
She urged the audience to use social media to provide useful information about their businesses. "Content is king," she said, and recommended that people "not be too boastful about how great you are."
"Making connections face-to-face is great; social media is another way. Connecting places and people is the purpose of social media."
Door prizes were given away after the program.
