Police then talked to the mother of Nolan. She stated they parked their vehicle and was going across the street to get the boys’ hair cut. She stated Nolan was getting out of the vehicle on his side and she told him to wait and stay there at the same time getting her other child out of the back seat. Nolan just bolted out into the road.
Sergeant Kurtz interviewed four witnesses. Martin Tray stated he was just leaving the barber shop on Troy Street and said he saw the whole thing. He stated he heard the mom yelled, "no, stay there!" and that’s what made him look. Mr. Tray said he put his hand up and yelled at the kid to stop. The kid came around behind the vehicle and just bolted onto the street and ran into the vehicle. Another witness, Mark Wilcox, stated he was traveling south on Troy Street when the young boy came running out onto the street and right into the vehicle.
Sergeant Kurtz talked to the driver, Stacey Paronish, 39, of New Columbia, PA, who was driving a 2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer. She stated she was traveling north on Troy Street and this boy came running so fast out into the road that she said she never saw him until it was too late. She stated he ran right into the front of her vehicle. Ms. Paronish was visibly upset and shaken up and genuinely concerned for the health and safety of the young boy.
At this time, no charges are being filed; the incident is still under investigation.
