TROY — Troy’s Borough Council met via zoom on Thursday, March 25. First on the agenda was discussion of the borough’s water and sewer. The water authority needs a new transceiver which will cost $3,500. The transceiver will be able to remotely read all water meters old and new.
Thanks to recent COVID relief, the borough is marked to receive $121,000 in federal aid. The money is not earmarked for any specific purpose, providing the borough with flexibility to use it where necessary. The first half, $60,000 will be provided within 60 days, with the remaining half not to be received until at least a year after the first payment.
For the yearly Bradford County Tax Collection Committee, the Borough Council elected Daniel Close to represent the borough.
There were also concerns raised that the state government may ask boroughs and municipalities to pay fees to fund state police coverage in their area. State police coverage is already funded by taxes. The policy has not been enacted yet but it is something council members will look out for.
Troy Borough Council meets the fourth Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
