Blossburg Seventh-day Adventist Church Fellowship Hall at 116 North Williamson Road was the setting for a springtime ladies afternoon out April 19. Members from Blossburg, Canton, and Hillcrest Seventh-day Adventist Churches and their guests comprised the group of 36 women and girls who enjoyed the festive event.
The “shopping” theme was enhanced with a shopping cart serving as a focal point in the room. The cart, on loan, thanks to the generosity of Blossburg’s Dollar General Store, contained articles representing the items for which the individual Biblical women “shopped.” Decorations featuring royal purple and pansies completed the spring time atmosphere. Each attendee had been asked to bring along a small gift which was creatively exchanged so that each person also left with a gift, along with their happy memories.
“After a long, hard winter we thought this event would be a way for women of our churches to get together with church family and friends to celebrate the arrival of spring,” explained Marie Smith, event organizer, and head elder of Blossburg Seventh-day Adventist Church. “We hope our attendees left refreshed in body, spirit, and mind with a better understanding of God’s love displayed in the lives of significant Biblical women who went ‘shopping."
