LEROY — Leroy Township’s Oct. 4 meeting focused on winter preparations. But first, old business. The fall cleanup Oct. 2 was a success, with township residents filling a dumpster about 2/3 full with about 20 tires.
The township is looking to hold an e-recycling event the first week of November in partnership with React of Horseheads. Township residents will be able to take old electronic devices to the parking lot across from Brown’s Pharmacy in Troy. Residents are encouraged to visit react-e-cycling.com to view devices accepted. All devices accepted will be taken for free except for devices with monitors like televisions and computers. Monitored devices will be taken for a $20 fee.
Road crew foreman Butch May was instructed to perform any minor maintenance he can find before the winter weather sets in. Some small tasks include repairs on the west end of Sunset road and Ira Brown road. The road crew will also build up trouble spots on Leroy Mountain Road with a few loads of material before the winter sets in.
Supervisor Jason Krise expressed his desire to look into buying a cheap pre-fabricated building to function as an office space for township secretary and tax collector work. Supervisors will look into it provided it would not require advanced modification to comply with local codes.
Next meeting is Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the Leroy Community Hall.
