The Small Business ImPAct Award, one of five Governor's ImPAct awards given to businesses in each of the 10 PREP regions, recognizes a small business that has been an industry innovator, demonstrated revenue/profit growth, increased its workforce, and committed to the growth and development of employees and the community. Karly Warner of Telford, PA was named to the Dean’s List at Bloomsburg University for the Spring 2015 semester by earning a 3.83 GPA. To make the Dean’s List, a student must earn at least a 3.50 GPA based on at least 12 semester hours of coursework. She will be a Senior and is majoring in Marketing with a minor in Art. Some of her art work will be featured this summer in a gallery exhibition at the Greenly Center Gallery in downtown Bloomsburg. Karly is active as Treasurer of Chi Theta Pi, a Greek sorority, and was formerly Rush Chairperson. Karly is the daughter of Kathy & Jere Warner and granddaughter of Joey & Ellen Foust of Granville Summit. On June 1, some members of the Canton Garden Club joined the residents of Sherwood's Personal Care Home, along with the Sherwood grandchildren, to plant some flowers in pots to brighten the patios and walkways at the home. After the planting party, Sherwood's provided cookies and beverages for all to enjoy. Class of 1955 recently held their 60th reunion on May 24th. Those in attendance from the left in the front: Betty Sechrist, Ruth Ann McCoy, Donna Zimmer, Barbara Bellows, Shelvajean Harzinski, and Susan VanDyke Schiess. That statement, which some think comes from an ancient Roman law, has provided guidance for the decisions of many children. It has also found its way into the lives of many adults. If someone loses “it,” and someone else finds “it,” what’s the right thing to do? Troy TOPS #986 met on June 15 at the Troy Vets Club with 15 members weighing in.
There was a total loss of 4 1/2 pounds all for TOPS. Top TOP loser was Diana with 1 1/2 pounds lost. Top KOPS were Betty and Marilyn who turtled. The fruit basket was shared by Betty, Marilyn, and Mary Lou. This Is Your Week winner was Mary Lou. The Three X's were drawn by Diana, Linda, and Jeannie. Glen T. Reese Jr., Columbia Cross Roads was one of 309 graduates to receive a diploma at the Spring Commencement of The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford. He received an Associate of Science degree in petroleum technology Recently Troy TOPS #986 collected food from members which they donated to the Troy Food Pantry. The club had a net loss of 67 pounds for the year, so they decided to donate that much in weight of food. The sixty-seven pounds of food were donated to the food pantry. Pictured above are half the membership of the group who participated. It was greatly appreciated. There's still time to pre-register your children for this summer's VBS at Mt. Pisgah Wesleyan Church. This year's program, Weird Animals VBS, runs from 6:30 to 8:30 pm each night from July 6 to 10.
At Weird Animals VBS, kids will learn about some of God’s most creative creations! They’ll participate in memorable Bible-learning activities, sing catchy songs, play teamwork-building games, make and dig into yummy treats, experience cool Bible adventures, collect Bible Memory Buddies to remind them they are one of a kind, and test out Sciency-Fun Gizmos they’ll take home and play with all summer long. EMHR board president Sandy Wilmot (left) and executive director Annette Schultz toured the Troy Sale Barn recently after a meeting held in the main hall. EMHR has tentatively approved an $8,000 grant to aid in the rehabilitation of the structure for use as a community center and agricultural and historic site. The building in Troy borough will also serve as the venue for two Taste of the Endless Mountains events this year. |
