First quarter 2015 earnings amounted to $0.31 per basic and diluted share as compared to $0.35 per diluted share in the fourth quarter 2014 and $0.34 per diluted share in the first quarter 2014. The return on average assets for the first quarter 2015 was 1.23%, and the return on average equity was 8.08%. Total shareholders’ equity was $189,103,000 at March 31, 2015, up from $188,362,000 at December 31, 2014 and $184,762,000 at March 31, 2014 Troy Borough Manager Dan Close has scheduled the following dates with NTSWA for street sweeping in Troy Borough. Street sweeping is generally completed between 4 am and 8 am to avoid higher traffic volume. Dates may be adjusted to better fit NTSWA’s schedule or for weather conditions at NTSWA’s discretion. These dates are also listed on the Troy Borough website calendar.
Routes 6 & 14 were scheduled to be done on April 15. Bagged leaves and naturally fallen bundled branches that can be handled by one person will be picked up by boro employees when put by the curbside. Note: only items listed above will be picked up and only when left at curbside. This is for lawn debris only, not cut down trees, garden clean out, garbage, etc. Also: the Troy Borough property on Farmers Valley Road will be open on Saturday, May 2nd and Saturday, May 23rd, from 1 pm-3 pm for receipt of larger branches, limbs and natural debris not picked up by the borough. No trash will be accepted. This is for compostable leaves and limbs only. There will be no exceptions! Alba Borough Council held its’ regular borough council meeting Monday, April 13, 2015 at the First Christian Church of Alba’s basement. Alba Borough received a letter dated April 8, 2015 indicating that FEMA will be releasing funds to Alba Borough for their share of the Sister Street Bridge Project in approximately three to four weeks. The borough is anticipating $65,154.28 will be received. Council hopes to be able to vote to satisfy in full, the $20,000 interim financing loan obtained last fall from Chemung Canal Trust Company at the May 2015 meeting.
The Canton Fire Department Board of Directors held its April meeting. Vice-President Donna Shepard conducted the meeting. Others present were Secretary Sherry Miller, Fire Chief J. Scott May, Deputy Chief George Jennings, Assistant Chief Ray Miller, and municipal representatives Dale Jackson, Darryl Jannone, Ed Sheaffer, Gordon Matson, Mike Miosi and Mark McMurray.
The minutes of the previous meeting were approved. Canton Borough will hold Spring Clean Up Monday through Friday, June 8, through June 12, to assist residents in sprucing up their property. Residents may dispose of old worn out appliances, furniture and junk, etc., from inside or outside of your home. Burning barrels can be disposed of if placed with the pile of discards at the curb.
The Eighth annual Endless Mountains Antique Tractor & Machinery Show will be held June 5, 6 and 7 at the Canton Firemen's Field. There will be free admission on Friday but admission will be $3 on Saturday and Sunday.
On Friday the event will open at 6:30 for breakfast. There will be a flea market at 9 am and cake walks at 11, 1, 3 and 5. New this year - a fish fry at 4 pm! There will be an auction with Ed Pepper at 5 pm. |
