On October 16, first graders from Troy’s WR Croman elementary had a wonderful field trip that was sponsored by their PTSO.
Jamey Hoose, the Manager of Canton’s Pump and Pantry and a member of WR Croman PTSO welcomed all and taught the students the fine art of pizza making. The children had a wonderful time learning about pizza dough ingredients; making and eating their pizzas, all while locals drank coffee and watched.

Mrs. Berdine, first grade teacher at Croman asked the children how many had experienced pizza making at home. She was surprised to hear that only 1/3 of the children had ever seen the process of real pizza making.
Afterwards, the children were invited to Landon’s Apple Orchard to discuss various types of apples, their origination and to watch the cider making procedure.
The children loved getting to pick their own apples and were amazed at how many apples one tree could hold.
Jamey also provided a tour through Landon's Orchards, as he loves the orchard and is quite the apple enthusiast.
To end the day students were reunited to eat their lunch and pizza, as well as drinks that Pepsi had donated at the Canton Bingo Hall. The first graders had a great day and didn’t have to leave the area to see some of the the little joys of life.
