Lyle Wesneski, a member of the Troy High School staff was chosen Teacher of the Year by the Student Council. Mr. Wesneski is an eighth grade history teacher. He lives in Canton and is a Canton High School graduate. He is head wrestling coach at Canton and assistant baseball coach, also in Canton. He has been teaching for 25 years and hopes that each year he inspires his students to work hard and to enjoy history, which they are making everyday. Recently, the Troy High School Bands performed in the Music in the Park Competitions in Williamsburg, Virginia. The trip started Friday, when the band visited the Naval School of Music in Norfolk, VA
The Troy Youth Arts Camp is looking for participants for this yearʼs Arts Camp located at the W.R. Croman Primary School in Troy, Pa. This year the State Envirothon Competition was held on May 19th and 20th, 2015 at the University of Pittsburgh Johnstown Campus and the Windber Recreation Park. Each winning team from the County Envirothon competitions were in attendance from a total of 63 counties. Of those 63 counties, representing Bradford County was Troy High School. This year they won the Bradford County Envirothon with a score of 411 points out of 500. Students of the Month for April at Canton High School included the following: seventh grade, Grace O'Hara and Jasmine Cook; eighth grade, Josiah Gleckner and Jenna Spencer; ninth grade, Camryn Yaggie and Katie Rathbun; tenth, Jewell VanRyn and James Bowman; eleventh grade, Sidney Wheeler and John Trobaugh; and twelfth grade, Jackie Deljanovan and Dallas Giradi. Heather Palmer, a senior from Canton, has been named to the Society of Jacob Albright Scholars.
Lifetime membership in the Society of Jacob Albright Scholars is awarded to graduates who have completed at least half their course work at Albright and who have a cumulative average of 3.70 or higher. An induction ceremony will be held on Saturday, May 23. Palmer will graduate Albright College on Sunday, May 24, with a bachelor of arts in history/religious studies. |
