On May 27, the gym of the W.R. Croman was full to capacity as members of the kindergarten classes of Mrs. Carrington, Mrs. Wesneski, Miss Young, Mrs. Swain, Mrs. Vosburg, Mrs. White, and Mr. Oldroyd received diplomas promoting them to first grade.
The students marched in to the music of Nancy Burguess. After the Pledge of Allegiance, and the kindergarten poem, the students sang "Grand Ol Grade", "Have You Ever Been A Fishin," the kindergarten cadence, and "First Grade Here We Come," Diplomas were presented to the following: Canton Senior High School held their annual awards assembly on June 5, 2015 in the auditorium.
Shirley Grantier presented the Troy Community Hospital Auxiliary scholarship to Kayla Shay. Mary Beth Schoonover presented the Bradford County Regional Arts Excellence award to Dakota Vanryn. Krystal Bristol presented the Peggy E. Madigan Award to Jessica Pavey Roger Wright presented Trevor Route with the DuPont Sciences, Engineering & Mathematics Scholarship. Allee engineered an intricate mathematical stencil to create an M.C. Esher inspired composition. She designed a stencil that was critically accurate and her planning involved to effectively produce a pattern that tessellated. Her artwork demonstrates a sharp keen sense of originality with applied synthesis. Allee’s artwork was completed with acrylic paint, card stock, scissors, and tape. Students entering 8th and 9th grade this fall will have the opportunity to spend four days in the world of hospital healthcare this summer. M.A.S.H. Camp will be held July 27 and July 28 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
In the school year recently concluded, thirteen Canton High School students took part in the "School To Work" program.
The students worked at thirteen different businesses, at least once per week. The work schedule is arranged so that the students do not miss tests or fall behind on projects. Students are responsible for completing missed classes and homework. |
