Canton High School’s Homecoming game will be Saturday, September 26, when the Warriors host Muncy at Miller A. Moyer Field at 1:30 pm. This will be the only day game scheduled at Moyer Field this season.

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder, also known as FASD, occurs when an individual’s mother consumes alcohol during her pregnancy. FASD occurs in about 40,000 babies in the United States every single year (U.S. Department of Health and Human Sources, “Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and Juvenile Justice: How Professionals Can Make a Difference”). Some effects of FASD include “physical, mental, behavioral, and/or learning disabilities” (U.S. Department of Health and Human Sources, “Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders and Juvenile Justice: How Professionals Can Make a Difference”). Members of the Homecoming Court at Canton High School for the 2015/2016 school year are in the front, Matthew Berryman Dylan Stone, Brandon Fleming, Michael Bacon, and Noah Barnett.

A Homecoming Parade will take place at 11:30, starting at the Canton Church of Christ and traveling through town. The crowning of the King and Queen will take place at halftime of the football game on Saturday. Complete coverage of the Homecoming Events will appear in next week's edition. On September 24, the Canton Area School District will hold its annual "Open House." The public is invited.The Elementary and the High Schools will be open from 6 pm to 7:30 pm. Parents and grandparents will have the opportunity to visit classrooms, meet teachers, and learn about the buildings and the programs at the schools. A juried student art exhibit is on display at the Mansfield University Loomis Gallery. The exhibit will run through September 22.
The exhibit consists of 2D, 3D and graphic design works of MU art students. A reception and awards presentation will be held on Friday, September 4, 4-6 p.m. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public.
