Recently, the Troy High School Bands performed in the Music in the Park Competitions in Williamsburg, Virginia. The trip started Friday, when the band visited the Naval School of Music in Norfolk, VA
This was followed by a short rehearsal in the parking lot of the hotel in preparation for the Saturday performances. On Saturday, the Serenaders Jazz Band performed first under the direction of Daniel Schwanger.
This was followed by a performance by the marching band, and then the concert band. The Jazz Band received HS Class A place, SUPERIOR as well as best overall jazz ensemble. The Troy Trojan Marching Band received HS Class AA 2nd place, EXCELLENT and the Concert Band received HS Class A 2nd place, EXCELLENT.
The students received their awards at the Royal Palace Theater at Busch Gardens Williamsburg at the Music in the Parks Award Ceremony. The trip concluded with a walking tour of Colonial Williamsburg on Sunday prior to coming home. The Serenaders Jazz Band performed at the First Christian Church of Alba.
The Trojan marching band wrapped up their season at the Memorial Day parade in Troy. Thank you to all who support the various music programs in all of our schools.
