Students entering 8th and 9th grade this fall will have the opportunity to spend four days in the world of hospital healthcare this summer. M.A.S.H. Camp will be held July 27 and July 28 at the Arnot Ogden Medical Center.
M.A.S.H. stands for Medical Academy of Science and Health. This camp is sponsored by the Arnot Ogden Medical Center and the Central New York Area Health Education Center (CNYAHEC). The two organizations have partnered on this initiative to address the mutual goal of alleviating the shortage of health professionals by encouraging young people to explore a range of health careers.
A variety of careers will be highlighted during M.A.S.H. Camp through fun, and hands-on workshops. Students will learn about the educational requirements, skills, typical job duties, and personal qualities of specific health professionals and para-professionals. They will participate in interactive activities that highlight the skills, equipment, technology, and resources used by health professionals, and hospital settings and structures where many professionals work.
