The Troy Rotary Club will be hosting the 1st Annual Big Pond Blue Moon Prediction Run on Friday, July 31st at the Lake Ondawa Pavilion in Big Pond. All proceeds from the race benefit the community projects of the Troy Rotary Club.
The winner of the 6K run/walk is the first person to cross the finish line AFTER MIDNIGHT. The course will open at moon rise, 10:20 p.m., and each runner will decide at what time they would like to start running, based upon their prediction as to how long it will take them to complete the 6K (3.8 mile) course. Example: If a runner thinks it would take them 30 minutes to run the course, they would start the race at 11:30 p.m. or when the countdown clock says -30 minutes until midnight. If a walker thinks that it will take them 1 hour and 5 minutes to walk the course, they would begin the race at 10:55 p.m. To be fair: NO WATCHES OR TIMING DEVICES will be allowed. Runners will be chip timed by PA Runners.
Additional race details, including a description of the course, safety tips (it will be dark), and directions to the race location are available online at www.rununited.net/big-pond-blue-moon.html.
Registration for the race is available online at www.parunners.com/bigpondbluemoon or via mail-in registration. Forms are available at www.rununited.net/big-pond-blue-moon.html. Race day registration will also be available. Headlamps are included with registration for the first 50 registrants thanks to Hoover Hardware Do It Center. Additional sponsorships have been provided by Brann, Williams, Caldwell & Sheetz; C&N Bank; and First Citizens Community Bank.
The Troy Rotary Club raises money throughout each year for Community Service projects and donations to Community Organizations.
