Miss Ashlee Groover, Santee, CA, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tod Groover, granddaughter of Mrs. and Mrs. Richard Groover, Ogdensburg and great granddaughter of Ruby Hansell and Frances Groover, both from the area, has joined the Robert Morris University, Pittsburgh softball team.
Ashlee will join RMU right out of junior college and will have three years of eligibility remaining.
The infielder complied a .381 on-base percentage in her one season at Southwestern while making just a single error, posting a .988 fielding percentage in the process.
She helped the Jaguars win the Goldenwest Tournament in earlier this year, and earned All-Tournament Team honors as a result.

Groover, who accrued more walks than strikeouts in 2015, contributed a .395 OBP and a .563 slugging mark during conference action for the Jaguars. Southwestern finished 25-15 on the season with help from Groover and was ranked 16th in RPI in southern California.
Groover, who is the first Jaguar to transfer to a Division I program, earned two All East County honors and a pair of All Grossmont Valley League awards while competing for Santana High School.. She was named a "Player to Watch" by the San Diego Union Tribune in 201 and promptly hit .429 with a .493 OBP and a .777 SLG% in her senior season.
She was also named a Scholar-Athelete in each of all four years at Santana.
Groover help the team to a California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) Division 3 championship n 2013, a CIF runner-up finish in 2012 and a four Grossmont Valley League titles in four years. She also competed for 3rd degree on the travel ball scene, a squad she helped to a 2013 western national championship.
"Ashlee is a very versatile player who can play many different position on the field," Coleman said. "She is a very good hitter who will be an extremely aggressive and bold baserunner for us."
Robert Morris has won the Northeast Conference regular-season title in four of the pat five season. The Colonials are also the lone team in the league to post an overall record of at least .500 in seven of the past eight years.
RMU is the only Division I school in the country to have its softball program rank among the top five nationally in team grade point average in each of the past six year.
