When it comes to the Church, Ananias and Sapphira are examples of what happens when you do not tell the whole truth. They decided together to say they gave all the money they received from the land they sold when true fully they had kept some of it for themselves. The fact they lied about what they gave to the Church cost them their lives.
This last verse of our text sums up what Peter wants his readers to understand. No matter what suffering you may be going through, do not stop serving Jesus in all that you are and do. The suffering you maybe going through has happened to purify you. There are times when you may get off track, and something must happen to bring you back to where you ought to be in your commitment to Jesus Christ. “According to God’s will” means you will not suffer or be tempted beyond what you will be able to handle. With every temptation that comes your way, God always provides a way out. As a Christian you need to remind yourself that God’s Spirit lives within you to help you through difficult times. When it comes right down to it, you are never alone.
By committing yourselves to the “faithful Creator” you will be blessed. It may not be in the way you desire, but it will be according to “God’s will”. Faithfulness to God is what really counts. You have heard if you are successful you will be blessed, but God only requires you to be faithful. “Continue to do good” for the Lord as a Christian and you can be certain of a place with Jesus Christ in heaven. You can not play around with being a part of the Church, but rather you need to be very serious concerning your relationship with Jesus Christ. THINK ABOUT THIS VERY CAREFULLY THEN ACT ACCORDINGLY!!!
