By Anja Miller, RN My name is Jeffrey Wilkinson; I am the Chaplain for Guthrie Hospice. I am part of the interdisciplinary team for Guthrie Hospice. Sometimes when I call to schedule a visit with a new patient, that patient is hesitant to have me come to visit. They are worried that I am going to either preach a sermon at them or I am going to try and change their religious preference. Nothing could be further from the truth.
By Anja Miller, RN Facing a serious illness can be a time of overwhelming stress and confusion for you and your family members. To help you and your family better cope with the emotions and challenges throughout the time in which your illness is occurring, a Hospice Social Worker will be provided.
By Anja Miller, RN Hello to you all again. I am Anja Miller, RN, Guthrie Hospice.
In my last article I talked to you a little about what Hospice means and what hospice can do for you and your loved one. For example, if your loved one would like to go to the casino or camping just one more time, but because of pain, nausea/vomiting, anxiety or shortness of breath your loved one cannot go and enjoy themselves; Guthrie Hospice can help. We specialize in symptom management, great emotional support and excellent care. We realize that Hospice can be a scary word, yet Hospice can be a positive experience. You do NOT have to go through this challenging time by yourself. We ask you to call Guthrie Hospice at 1-800-598-6155 with any questions; so we can answer them for you. Until next time, Anja Miller, RN, Manager of Clinical Services. By Anja Miller, RN Home with Hospice
We provide support and care to your loved ones in need. “You matter because of who you are. You matter to the last moment of your life, and we will do all we can; not only to help you die peacefully, but also to live until you die”. These words spoken by Dame Cicely Saunders, founder of hospice, describe the approach Guthrie Hospice takes with every person we care for. |
