“You also were included in Christ when” is a statement with a condition. Remember, this congregation at Ephesus was mostly Gentiles. Earlier in this sentence Paul used the “we” to refer to himself and the Jews. Paul is simply saying the Gentiles are now included in the Kingdom of God, the Church, when they become Christians. To be a Christian is to be “in Christ.” If you are not “in Christ,” you are not a Christian. The condition is “when.” This requires action on your part. You must response as the Ephesians did.
“The gospel of your salvation” is presenting how Jesus can save you and how you can become a Christian. It is showing how Jesus fulfilled all of the prophesies recorded in the Old Testament. The gospel is the life, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ and tells how Jesus was required to be crucified on the cross to take away your sins. The Scripture teaches there is no other name under heaven in which mankind can be saved except in Jesus Christ. Your salvation is made possible by your believing, repenting, confessing, being immersed into Christ for the forgiveness of sin and then living a Christian life. By being immersed, you are showing others the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus’ blood is what cleanses you from your sins. Therefore, the first thing you must do is recognize you are a sinner in need of having your sins washed away. Once you have come to an understanding of who Jesus Christ is and how He can wash away your sins, you must respond by believing Jesus Christ is the only one who can turn your life around and bring you to heaven. So what will you do with Jesus Christ? Earnestly seek out the truth and obey what you have learned! Think about this very carefully for where you spend eternity depends on your decision!!!!!
