The promise begins with “the God of all grace." It is God through Jesus who has provided for every need you may have. The Creator knows what is best for you. He is the only one who is able to keep a promise fully and completely. Because of sin mankind always fails to fully keep promises.
God has “called you to his eternal glory." Every individual is “called” through the gospel. The gospel is the life of Jesus here on earth, especially His death, burial and resurrection. When you have made Jesus Christ your Lord and Savior you have accepted the message of salvation. Therefore, you will receive God’s “eternal glory” when you arrive in heaven. This will only happen through Jesus Christ. It is recorded in Acts 4:12, “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.”
“After you have suffered a little while” is an interesting statement. Just being a Christian will result in some kind of suffering; for the “world” hates Christians because the “world’s” evil works are shown for what they are. From the time Jesus Christ came on the scene, there have been non-believers who have tried to destroy Christianity. “A little while” is revealing the length of your suffering will not be long. Remember, the first readers were about to suffer persecution and knowing it would not be long would be an encouragement to them. This phrase could also means the depth of the suffering which would take place. Remember, God will not allow anything to come upon the Christian beyond what the individual is able to handle.
After the period of suffering is over, God “will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast”. This is a great blessing. Knowing this ought to encourage you to be even more faithful to God in all situations for His grace will help you through it all. Exactly when will God do this is not revealed, but the setting indicated this will happen in heaven. These words then describe what God will do for each Christian. The individual will be restored or perfected. In the end, you will receive a new glorious body just the way God had intended for it to be in the beginning. The next three descriptions, “strong, firm and steadfast,” over lap one another, but simply you will be strengthened into a more faithful Christian. In believing in God, suffering will cause you to depend more on Him. The more you depend on Him the more you will be blessed. God gives each Christian these benefits when they remain faithful to Him through their sufferings.
The end result is to praise God for His power and His dominion. Be in awe at His greatness and yet He cares for each individual. You will never find someone who cares for you as much as God does. God desires your fellowship, but hates the sins mankind commits. Come to Jesus before it is too late. SEARCH YOUR HEART AND SEEK GOD’S WILL WHILE THERE IS STILL TIME FOR YOUR DESTINY DEPENDS ON IT!!!
