We often desire more details on the things that were written. We need to remind ourselves that what was written was what was needed to convince us that Jesus is the Messiah, the Son of God and the Savior of mankind. In a thorough study of the Gospels it shows us men questioned and unsuccessfully tried everything possible to disprove Jesus. Then you take all of the prophesies, more than three hundred, made several hundred years before Jesus walked on this earth concerning the Messiah and see if He fits the picture. One or two may be coincidence but when you see Jesus fulfilling all of these prophesies you have no doubt that He is who He says He is. Now, the question is what are you going to do with this information; Jesus is the Son of God? There is a choice. You can accept the facts and do what Jesus said to do to be with Him or you can ignored the facts and do nothing. One thing you can not do when you have thoroughly studied the Scripture is to deny the truth.
There is another statement or phrase that must be considered. It is that “you may have life in His name.” We want life and we want it more abundantly. This verse is saying to have a real life that is more than existence it must be in Jesus. Jesus even said, “I am the way, the truth and the life.” Jesus came for the purpose of making a difference. He has made a difference, all you need to do is look around and see the influence He has had through the Church upon our society. Many of the things we have today we would not have if it had not been because of this influence. Consider this carefully and study God’s word to find the truth!!!
