The most important decision I’ve ever made was to accept or not accept God into my life. For a long time I wanted to negotiate the terms with Him. “I’ll live my life the way I want to and you be there when I need you, and especially at the end. OK?” Sound familiar? It was like He had the product and I got it completely free and on my terms. That’s not how it works in life and it’s not how it works with God. He owns the keys to life and eternity and God does not haggle. He is a, “take it or leave it” kind of guy and His Son Jesus is His, “final offer.” The truth is, He owns everything and we are not in any position to negotiate anything. He doesn’t need us, but we CERTAINLY need Him.
The terms are: Accept Jesus as you Lord and Savior, and He gives you an abundant life here and eternity in His presence after you die. It’s that simple. Making Him Lord means giving Him complete control of your life here, and professing Him as Savior means that you acknowledge Him being the way to Heaven. In truth, He is the ONLY way, (See John 14:6). Complete product information can be found in the Bible or by just looking around us. I’m glad that God has made it clear, (Ref. Romans 10:9-10 and Ephesians 2:8-10). We know the terms and conditions, the price and the product. This is life’s most important decision and it is something we absolutely need. This is however a, “limited time offer” and once the sale ends, it’s too late. Something to think about…
A young man called his mother and announced excitedly that he had just met the woman of his dreams. Now what should he do? His mother had an idea: “Why don’t you send her flowers, and on the card invite her to your apartment for a home cooked meal?” He thought this was a great strategy, and a week later, the woman came to dinner. His mother called the next day to see how things had gone. “I was totally humiliated,” he moaned. “She insisted on washing the dishes.” “What’s wrong with that?” asked his mother. “I think it’s a wonderful gesture.” “We hadn’t started eating yet.”
