The God who made this truly awesome and immense universe also made you. Not only that, He knows you and loves you! He knew you before you were born and is very concerned about you and your life and He wants you to know Him. He has a plan and purpose specifically for you and your life. Think about it. A creator that can speak billions of galaxies into existence…thinks you are extra special and created you on purpose. Don’t believe it?
The Bible, the number one best seller and most trusted book in in human history states: You are made in the image of God, (Gen. 1:27). He knew you before you were created, and everything about you, including your thoughts and desires, (Psalm 139). He also has things specifically for you to do here on earth, (Eph.2:10). Here is the best news! Nothing in the entire universe can separate us from God’s love, (Rom. 8:38-39). Nothing.
It turns out that God made us pretty significant specks! But it is only in and through God that we get and have this significance. If we find our value and importance in what we have achieved on our own, we are missing the point. Then we are indeed only a speck in an immense universe. If however we acknowledge God for who He is, what we mean to Him, why He made us and give Him our lives and futures, then we become an important part in His plan for the universe. You were made in God’s image and He values you much higher than all the planets, suns, solar systems and galaxies. It’s true. How thankful/grateful are you and have you been? Something to think about…
Seems appropriate: A local bar was so sure that its bartender was the strongest man around that they offered a standing $1000 bet. The bartender would squeeze a lemon until all the juice ran into a glass, and hand the lemon to a patron. Anyone who could squeeze one more drop of juice out would win the money. Many people had tried over time (weight-lifters, longshoremen, etc.) but nobody could do it. One day this scrawny little man came into the bar, wearing thick glasses and a polyester suit, and said in a tiny squeaky voice “I’d like to try the bet.” After the laughter had died down, the bartender said OK, grabbed a lemon, and squeezed away. Then he handed the wrinkled remains of the rind to the little man. But the crowd’s laughter turned to total silence as the man clenched his fist around the lemon and six drops fell into the glass. As the crowd cheered, the bartender paid the $1000, and asked the little man “What do you do for a living? Are you a lumberjack, a weight-lifter, or what?” The man replied “I work for the IRS.”
