I attended an auction alone on Saturday the 15th. I was given a blank check to carry although I did not use it. I only spent $3.00 plus food so you can see only one of us has a problem with auctions.
We have a few more birthdays coming up. Great-granddaughter, Emma will be one year old on the 23rd as will my youngest son Greg. The oldest daughter will reach a milestone on Monday, the 24th I won't disclose the number but it is one she is not real excited about.
We did have a surprise recently, my wife informed me our little el cheapo cell phone suddenly provides service right here on Sister Street. This may not be big news for many of you, but for me it is because as many of you know I am not a big fan of modern technology. We have this phone to take along when far away from home. We have no monthly plan or minimum we must spend. I don't know if the device has texting capabilities or not. I think it does, but although I think I'm smart enough to do so, I can see no reason for doing it.
I use the phone to talk to people. If I wanted to type a letter I feel smart enough to do that too, but it might take a while. I don't know if it can take pictures (I don't think so) but we have a camera for that. If all the photos are stored in your phone, what do you put in the photo album?
I spoke with my windfall Rd. neighbor's wife and learned Marvin Woodward is now home from the hospital after having some repair work performed and doing well.
While somewhat on the subject of phones, I see solar powered phones are being sent to other countries. Who's paying for that?
Did you notice at the "Concert for Valor" to honor servicemen and women, the likes of Bruce Springstein and Eminem sang anti-war songs? Bruce stomped his fee and screamed and Eminem reportedly used the "F" word twelve times. Now that's talent.
So you may have noticed even if nothing much happened on Sister Street, all one has to do is look to Washington and the politicians for some humor. Of course the latest is the MIT professor whose favorite word seems to be basically. Well Prof. Gruber, basically you called the American voters stupid more than once, so that in itself makes you a liar (Basically) and the President said he was not on the staff and as with everything else that happens in the world, he (the president) had just heard about it at a briefing a few minutes ago.
According to Webster, basically means to simplify language, or fundamental; and briefing means the fact of supplying pertinent information or instructions. And we always have Nancy Pelosi for some lighthearted fun. Her hand gestures remind me of a kid doing shadow puppets on a wall. Remember she is the one that said we will have to pass the Affordable Care Act, then afterward we can learn what is in it.
As Hillary would say "At this point what difference does it make"?
Well, basically none of these people make much of a difference. This just learned if Prof. Gruber was not on the staff and Mr."O" didn't know much about it, why and how was the guy paid $6 million?
