Normally I do not like to pick nits but an item in the news caused some concern. I do not blame the correspondent, I think she was misinformed. I do like vegetables (well, I'm not wild about okra - it feels slimy). I think one of the servers berated the whole table for not eating our vegetables and the remark got mixed up somewhere. As I said, I do not blame the writer but I don't want a bunch of growers looking at me as though I'm not helping their business.
With father and his new bride in Cape Cod for a few days, Cindy was asked to fix great-granddaughter Kiara's hair on Friday the 4th. Her Mimi was at work and due to recent surgery her Pop-Pop could not do a proper job of hair fixing.
If you ask my daughter Beth I couldn't do a proper job with two hands. If any of you are old enough to remember the TV series with a Dr. Zorba in it you will know the hairstyle I ended up with most days. But she was brave and went to school hair and all and as near as I can tell she suffered no lasting trauma or side effects.
Went up to East Point Saturday afternoon, or maybe we went over, to visit son Greg. We took along some onions and traded them for lettuce. Came home by way of County Bridge and rode through the campground just to be nosy and found the place nearly full.
I had a fellow stop at our yard sale and we got into a big visit about the old tractor. After he left I decided to get to work on one of mine. I dug out all the new parts I had accumulated and actually started putting the old thing back together and then I had to keep an appointment with the doctor who I've learned has a way of spoiling your plans so I've decided to be satisfied with one antique tractor. I guess one is enough anyway.
I also recently celebrated another birthday, so rapidly advancing age makes some of these projects more difficult.
I have finally started to find some pink tomatoes and a lot of yellow squash and of course the potatoes from peelings; I have a lot more of those in mind for next year. The Portugal Peppers have decided to start growing.
I see that the President took a trip to Alaska to talk to some fishermen about climate change. Notice it's not called "global warming" any more. I wonder what these folks in a small village can do about it? While there looking at glaciers, the news reports that the Pres "took a hike." Well, I and I think a lot of others have suggested that very thing.
One good thing came out of the latest doctor's visit. I was not given any more or different pills to take.
Oh, I almost forgot. Hillary has consented to a news conference on MSNBC (a channel nobody watches anyway) and it lasted about twelve minutes and did not help her cause. I sorta compare Hillary with the old witch in The Wizard of Oz. "I'm melting…I'm melting" and she doesn't know enough to put out the fire.
Q: What do you call a cow that has given birth?
A: De-Calf-inated.
Next week - more exciting stuff!
