I began the report on Friday the 7th so I figured I had plenty of time to collect news and my thoughts. I have also been known to sit quietly for some time which used to be called "gathering wool." What that means I have no idea except maybe it has something to do with sheep and the gathering of their coat. I think it means your thoughts are wandering such as mine are now.
My procrastination has caused this edition to be a week late. I think I could begin a Procrastination Club. Yeah, the first meeting will be next week.
I attended a meeting on the 11th at which time I was severely reprimanded by one of the newspaper's upper management. I promised to make a better effort.
The weekend was spent at the home of younger daughter Beth and her family. The original plan was to deliver a trampoline to grandson Ryan. (He has three boys). I didn't know putting the thing together was part of the deal. Picture two old guys, one young man whose skills are limited to electronics and two of his youngest boys who have no skills at all other than getting in the way. All this with no directions but somehow we made it. Oh - It was also necessary to remove some bear souvenirs from the building site.
The weekend also included a side trip to the West End Fairgrounds to watch great-grandson Jaden Brown in his quest to become the next NASCAR champion. In his three races he finished 3rd, 6th and then broke a tie rod. Of course, in true racer's fashion he stated it was not his fault. Sunday included a trip to Saylorsburg, PA. I left my cane which I use now and then at their house so without my knowing grandson Ryan bought me an old golf club to use as a walking stick.
A big wedding took place this past weekend but more on that later. Did you ever wonder why you are required to wear seat belts on an airplane but not on a bus? If you are flying 500-plus MPH at 30,000 feet what are you going to hit? The only thing you are going to hit is the ground and if so what good is a seat belt?
