A big thank you to some of my neighbors for cutting the grass at the Rich Way property. I guess the owners have abandoned the place.
I rushed the planting and because of my haste I had to cover the tomatoes and cucumbers. And, yes, Marge - I planted the peppers a few days after the frost. I have most everything well mulched with the grass clippings I stole or I mean obtained from Rich's yard.
I may have spotted a new car in a Sister Street driveway but I'd better make sure before committing it to print.
Speaking of run-down property in Alba we have more than our share of them. Most of the solutions get to the discussion stage and maybe a call to the code enforcement officer but after that the idea fizzles. The windows remain broken and the grass and weeds continue to grow. So I don't have to worry when my twenty-six year old lawn mower decides to have a problem on Memorial Day. Not the celebration I thought, or wanted. The search begins for someone willing to diagnose a problem and fix it. It does not help that I only got about half of the lawn mowed before it all came to a halt.
Plans are being finalized for the Eighth Annual Endless Mountains Antique Tractor and Machinery Show (the name is still too long). The drawing for the tractor raffle will be 2 pm on Sunday June 7. Please come out on the 5th, 6th and 7th and see if eight or ten old folks can pull it off once again. We always need more tractors.
While cruising over in the Leona, Springfield and Big Pond area my grandson spotted several candidates that are not as popular as the Green and the Red. Remember, all are welcome.
I noticed on the news a hole opened up on the golf course but officials prefer to call it a geological event; so it's not a hole?
There is an underground mine fire in Pennsylvania, so should we put it out or worry about some bats? I know the bats consume a million bugs each night and I guess the sulphur and smoke from a mine fire would accomplish the same thing,
Oh, back to the lawnmower. While I was looking in the phone book for small engine repair I found maybe six or eight in places such as Rome, Potterville and Mildred. While looking under lawnmower repair I couldn't help but notice the ads for lawyers, all 35 pages of them. Apparently lawnmowers are not that prone to braking down.
