We made a quick trip to the hospital Friday AM. I was on a cancellation list for a test and was called at 9:00 am for a 10:30 appointment. That was really close due to the snow but worked out OK because I didn't get the test until after 11 AM. Ironically this test has a lot to do with nerves and their function or lack of it.
I suppose I am late but I did spot a couple of robins lately. My sister has reported several white swans seen along Route 414 near Hess Farm Equipment. On our outing Friday in the midst of the blizzard we spotted a chipmunk racing across the highway, probably on his way back to his den to sleep.
I recently spoke with my oldest child in Florida. He was at the hospital in St. Augustine where he had taken his significant other for some malady either real or imagined. I shouldn't say that but she knows I'm only kidding. After telling me some unflattering remarks about the doctor and his abilities he said after some tests were completed the so-called expert reported that her appendix among other parts looked "good." I don't know what was said when it was revealed she had not had an appendix for many years!
I talked to the youngest daughter in Mt. Pocono and learned she had not been out of bed all day due to a pulled muscle in her back. After I questioned her intelligence and lectured her on the dangers of ignoring it she was soon at the hospital. Nice to hear her doctor is nearly a neighbor. The oldest daughter then told me she was within a couple miles from her workplace when she realized she had forgotten her keys. Then her car had a malfunction so even though I have another child I hesitate to check on his welfare.
The worst thing I noticed a couple of weeks ago was that his youngest daughter had dyed her hair black - real black. Of course I didn't waste any time letting her know my thoughts. She said she was planning to return to her original color.
I read in the paper in 1940 school remained open because there was no radio service to inform them otherwise. Amazing.
My wife talks to her oldest son Jim in Indianapolis nearly each day during the work week. He is a truck driver and therefore has a lot of free time and most of his duties are in or close to the city. Because of this we get pretty accurate weather forecasts one day ahead.
Last Saturday we followed the recipe from the paper for celery soup. She cut up the ingredients, I guess because of my sharp object incident and I was instructed to finish with liquids etc. She and I followed the recipe as written but she did add carrots (for color). It was very good.
Now for the latest from our leaders who are so much smarter than we are we should not question anything they do. Now the EPA wants to limit the amount of water we use to take a shower. I, and I would think, many others, have some limitations in place now, such as the amount of area to be cleaned, the amount of dirt to be removed, and of course, age. Oh, and don't forget all ailments and infirmities. The days of a quick shower are over.
Remember when someone would invite you to take a ride, or meet, you would reply, sure, I'll just jump in the shower. Well, that ain't happening, either. As some famous guy when asked about age replied, "I don't have to buy green bananas anymore." I have yet another test to be performed on Tuesday in Williamsport. I really think I should have a shower before but but I'm not sure it's allowed. Should I check with the EPA? What with all the doctors and tests lately, maybe I have used up my March allotment. But no, I should be allowed because anything Washington comes up with won't take effect for years anyway.
Don't forget, if you are not pleased with the decision by Arnot Health to close the Canton office, write to Dr. Kimberly Kaffenbarger, Medical Director, Arnot Health Primary Care, 600 Ivy Street, Elmira, NY 14905.
