I haven't heard much yet about my less than perfect attempts but it has only been a week. I had not seen my neighbor who lives at the end of the street for a few weeks (since the temperature dropped below 50 degrees). I stopped by his wife's place of employment to check on his welfare. She assured me he was fine. I'm used to seeing him often during warm months.
We traveled down to Linden, PA Sunday morning to take in a model train show and sale. I should have known it would be a whole bunch of dealers selling obsolete, rusty old train pieces and parts at outrageous prices. I did buy a few magazines at four for a dollar. Good for cold snowy days which am sure we will have plenty of soon. That's as far as my railroad plans usually get anyway.
While on the subject of Ridley Park, I read somewhere that there is a law which states it is illegal to walk backward while eating peanuts in front of the Barnstormers Auditorium while a performance is underway. I think that wold be rather difficult no matter what was going on.
I suppose I must apologize to that guy at the end of the street. I spoke with him Sunday evening and he informed me he indeed was out nearly every day and if I didn't see him it must have been my fault. Of course, the occasion of our meeting was at the annual Tree Lighting festivities at Alba Community Park. I tried to count the folks who braved the wind and cold but due to the children and adults moving about trying to get to Santa and stay warm, I'm going to say about 30 or so were on hand to sing, share cookies, and coffee and hot chocolate.
A big thank you to Mayor Dale Palmer and first lady Marilyn for the heat. We had a countdown and just like Washington, DC and Rockfeller Center in New York the switch was flipped and the tree was lit.
I did not encounter any protestors or signs so I'm going to refer to it as a Christmas tree because after all that's what it is. We had a few new faces which is always a good thing. There was mentioned made of the picnics, held in past years and all of the new residents expressed interest so we may see this tradition return.
I was planning to stay away from politics this week, but the remarks made by these folks make it hard to ignore.
I didn't think we would hear anymore from Mr. Gruber (he's the guy that said we the voters were stupid) now I learn he will be called before Congress to answer some questions. Maybe it will be fun to watch him squirm.
Hillary thinks we should respect our enemies and try to understand their feelings. Not only do I think she just destroyed any slim chance she may have had to be president, but I think she and Dr. Phil should go to Syria or Iran and embrace our enemies that behead Americans.
Did you hear what Congressman John Dingell said? He said "it takes a long time to get the legislation in place to control people". He has held the job for 59 years and his dad was elected in the '30s and now when he retires his wife who is 30 years younger can continue the control.
Everyone's lights and decorations look nice and the news reports six billion dollars is spent each year and guess where all of lights and ornaments are manufactured? At the risk of ruffling feathers, Merry Christmas!
