Ralph Summers, Ed Payne, and I were good neighborhood pals and probably about ten years old. We decided to borrow my older brother Martin's pup tent.
He was an active Boy Scout. The tent was to be in the horse pasture on the bank of the Mill Race under a large beech tree.
Probably my mother supplied the food items to be cooked over the open fire.
We, early in the day set up the tent. Supper went well. The only problem was that some of the older kids in the neighborhood let it be known that they were going to scare us in the night.
We had nicely settled down for the night when Ralph's older sister Becky came quietly to the tent. She just was checking on us to see if we were all right. So the night and breakfast were enjoyed.
I appreciate Claire Woodward, one of my thirteen readers, for mentioning to me how she likes memories from the past.
