By Richard & Joyce Pratt | The Troy Fair is off to a nice hot start with hot weather forecast for most of this week. But what can we say? Troy Fair is noted for hot weather and rain. Several from Hillcrest attended the horse show, Sunday and opening ceremony and Troy Fair Queen Pageant. Congratulations to Fair Queen Tricia Hojnowski. Sincere sympathy is extended to the family of Jackie McMann who passed away. She was a longtime resident of Hillcrest. Also to the Saunders family in the loss of Hazel Saunders, another longtime resident and close neighbor when we were at McCallum Manor. Tenants are reminded to sign up for the annual Hillcrest Picnic, Aug. 20th, put on by the Housing Authority with everything furnished. Sign up sheet is on the bulletin board. | Many will be attending the Troy Fair this week, which reminds me of the many years while growing up of getting a 4-H animal trimmed and ready to show and the many days at the fairground keeping them clean and ready to show. In later years, taking the grandchildren to the fair for the day. The weather sure is making the flowers grow. We have some of the tallest glads I ever saw. A neighbor measured one at 6'4" (top photo). The lilies (second photo) are beginning to look beautiful and in full bloom. As well as many other flowers: Petunias are out doing themselves. Pat and Ray Buck, cousins from Sunfish Pond surprised us with a short visit this morning as we were preparing to write this column. |
Richard had the Sunday evening service this week with a message from Proverbs 3:1-8 with emphasis on verses 5 and 6:" "Trust In the Lord with all things, heart and lean not on thy own understanding. In all ways acknowledge Him and He shall direct thy paths."
Richard and Joyce enjoyed lunch at the Milky Way with Canton friends Richard and Kathy Turner and Richard and Barbara Bellows, Thursday.
