Our celebration of Holy Week and Easter was glorious. I am always blessed by your prayerful participation in the mystery of our Lord’s death and resurrection. The prayers and the readings from the Bible are enough to send me through the roof with joy and faith renewed. This year I had a special little blessing.
I will never forget the joy I felt as I baptized young Nolan Wetzel while he clapped and smiled the entire time!
How do you feel when you think about the Resurrection of Jesus? Do you stifle a yawn? Do you tender a passive nod to the reality without really feeling anything? Do you doubt and question? Do you suppress a desire to jump up and down with joy? Or do you toss all caution to the wind and clap and smile and radiate all over the place?
As we continue to celebrate the Easter Season, allow yourselves to experience that Love that Jesus wants to pour into your hearts. It is real. It is everlasting. It will never fail you. And unlike the latest thrill in your life, it will last forever. Your senior year will end.
Your sports prowess will end. Many relationships will end, and even the ones that last a lifetime end… That great movie will end. Your new truck will rust. The peanut butter eggs will all be eaten. But the Risen Lord will be with you always!
Alleluia! He is Risen!! Clap!!!! Smile!!!! Shout for joy!!!!! Alleluia!
Blessings
Father Mike
