HE IS RISEN!
HE IS RISEN, INDEED!
ALLELUIA!
The long days of preparation are over. The fasting has come to an end. It is now time to celebrate the most extraordinary gift of the ages, the Resurrection of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
It was not for His own benefit that Jesus died. Nor was it for His benefit that He rose. We are the beneficiaries.
He rose to raise us up from the deep pit of our sin.
He rose to raise us out of the doldrums of the daily grind to the hope of eternal life.
He rose to raise us beyond the fear & the power of death to the Power of His Resurrection.
Today God has fulfilled all the Old Testament types, symbols, and prophecies. Jesus not only fulfills but makes all things new: there is a new creation, a new faith, new life, a new people of God, a new and un-bloody sacrifice, and a new Divine Covenant!
We witness to the reality of His resurrection. We are renewed today. On one level we are renewed by the physical element of the Resurrection. The dead body of Jesus was raised and the universe at its most basic level is changed. The very laws of nature are overturned. We now share in this new physical possibility of eternal life.
However the resurrection was also a spiritual event. We are not only given the potential for a resurrected body, we are given as well the possibility of forgiveness—of being forgiven and of forgiving each other—with that new way of living and being that forgiveness brings.
HE IS RISEN!
HE IS RISEN, INDEED!
ALLELUIA!
Easter Blessings,
Father Michael
