And her position is a bit muddled. When she was Secretary of State, she was one of those enthusiastic supporters. In 2012 she stated that “it set the gold standard in trade agreements.” But now, as a candidate, Hillary is aiming at a difference audience, so, just as once she opposed same-sex marriage but now supports it; and as once she favored the Iraq war but now opposes it; and as once – well why go on, you get the idea – let’s cut to the chase. In 2012 TPP was the “gold standard”but in 2015 she said, “I am not in favor of what I have learned about it,” and “I think there are lots of unanswered questions.”
The reporter who filed the request was originally told the information would be released in April 2016. However, this week it was announced that the Department will not be able to comply with the request until – get this – November 31, 2016. We don’t think it is necessary to point out there only are 30 days in November. Well, it probably was a simple mistake, and they probably were trying to stall until after election day. But it’s actually a bit longer than that. Last week the department, in a court filing, stated that it would take 75 years in total to comply with the request to release emails from Mrs. Clinton’s staff. This is not some number they pulled out of the air, but it comes with a precise mathematics calculation. The filing says there are 450,000 documents from three of Mrs. Clinton’s aides (Cheryl Mills, Jacob Sullivan and Patrick Kennedy) and at a stated rate of 500 pages per month, they declare it would take 16 2/3 years to release the Mills documents, 33 1/3 years for the Sullivan documents, and 25 years for the Kennedy documents; or 75 years in total. We are not making this up. Odd, that three aides can produce so much stuff that it takes nineteen times as long to release information than it did to compile it in the first place (given that Mrs. C. was Secretary of State for a mere four years). Good news: if one of those staffers gave birth to a baby boy tomorrow, by the time he reached his life expectancy of 76.71 years he could have 1.71 years left to read all of the material.
Of course, if it had been the Bush administration that cited a “November 31” date, or claimed it would take “75 years” to comply with a request, the progressives in congress and the media would be in an uproar.. But, the Obama administration need have no such fears.
As for Hillary, whatever her TPP secrets are, they are safely protected by the tame bureaucrats of the State Department, and we can thank our lucky stars we are blessed with such a transparent administration.
