Congratulations are in order for former Sister St. resident Travis Earlee. He and his wife Mackensie are the proud parents of a boy, Haven Walter. I checked on a few neighbors as to their well being and found all to be doing O.K. I spoke with my cousin Marsden's wife and learned he is doing well and getting stronger each day. I took Cindy back to Troy last Thursday for a stress test. I think the test causes stress but what do I know? If you ask her she would say I have a lot to do with her stress.
While at the hospital last week I spoke with another neighbor and when I asked how are you doing, he replied, and I quote, "I'm as happy as a rat in a cheese factory". Sounds good to me.
Saturday evening we and about 22 fellow old tractor nuts enjoyed a dinner at Kelley's Creek Side. No Gifts, no shop talk, just dinner and some visiting.
Sunday we had a meeting with some other tractor folks over in Tioga County. This is always a good meeting because it is always a dish to pass dinner before the meeting, plus it gives us a chance to stop at the super-store so I can see the latest products from China and be treated rudely by the employees, er, I mean associates.
We can also take advantage of gas prices which are $0.10 a gallon less than at any of the stations in that area.
As many of you know, I try to watch the news each day and it never fails to entertain and provide a laugh or two. Some of the best items this last week come from the reporters. One young lady asked Texas Governor Rick Perry if he thought he was smart enough to be President. And what about the hostage taking in a coffee cafe in Australia? The reporter stated the fact that because this took place during morning rush hour then these hostages must have stopped in for coffee on the the way to their jobs. Brilliant statement. And if I am really looking for a knee-slapper I just look at Nancy Pelosi's latest statements.
The news people have also instructed me as to the amount I should tip those who help me throughout the year. For example: I should give my hairdresser/ barber and manicurist from $25.00 to $100.00, a doorman and masseuse $100 to $200. Because the only one of these I ever use is a barber and because he has less work to do each time I go, I'm certainly not about to pay extra! I hope he doesn't read this before my next visit.
