I picked up a few news items, although the newsbox was empty. I think many folks were out over the weekend attending all the festivities going on.
Ten residents made it to the Coffee Chat Hour on Thursday. I was late and there were only four, but still enjoyed visiting for a while. I think many had early appointments, etc.
Jeannette May and I joined other members of the Village Improvement Association and carpooled to Troy for a lovely tea and a tour of the Historical Mitchell House on Thursday, this last week. After the tea served by the gracious hostesses dressed in period attire. The eight members were given the tour and some history of the house. After tea and tour, President O' Hara presided over a short business meeting. Member Leon English, photographer for the group, asked one of the hostesses to take the group picture.
Irma Earley enjoyed a trip to Virginia Beach last week to see her daughter, Linda. She went with her daughter Maxine and Dave Shedden.
Friday this last week, Irma celebrated her birthday with her daughters Maxine Shedden and Debbie Elliot. They enjoyed lunch at the Iron Skillet and then visited Irma's brother Paul Machmer Sr., at Twin Oaks.
Later in the evening, Irma enjoyed cake and ice cream with Maxine and Dave and their family Charles, Teresa, Sam, and Noah Shedden. Irma received many cards and well wishes for her 87th birthday.
Kathy Temple and her sister, Bonnie Vanemon spent Thursday and Friday finishing everything for the Fall Fling. They were at the Fling both Saturday and Sunday showing off their handiwork.. Kathy said that she and Bonnie thank all who purchased crafts and placed special orders for other pieces. In spite of the rain on Saturday, Sunday was beautiful. Kathy reported that it brought out more people for the event.
Kathy and Bonnie will be setting up at Burlington next weekend and hope to see folks there.
Mary Turner said that she was down cheering on the football team, Saturday.
This last Thursday, Carol Brown said that she had her granddaughters Haylee and Cheyene in for dinner. Cheyene brought her little nephew Ian with her and Carol said he was a lot of fun. After the meal they attended a volleyball game.
Eric Smith reported that he and Beverly attended a revivial at the First Christian Church in Montoursville on Sunday and Wednesday of last week. Beverly's nephew Jeff Bush was guest speaker and Eric commented that he did an excellent job.
Pauline Watts said that when she talked to her son Kelly on Sunday that he was saying that they need rain there. It's very dry in Arizona.
Frances Kobbe was shopping at the Dollar General with her daughter Carol Bastion, Saturday afternoon.
Friday, her son Ed Kobbe was here and fixed up her computer and printer. So she's in business for sure.
Jeannette May and I joined others in downtown Canton, Sunday afternoon for the National Life Chain Silent Vigil.
Afterward we went on to Flavorland Restaurant for lunch.
