There were ten folks out to enjoy the Coffee Chat Hour on Thursday. A group of girls with grandmother faces and one guy with a grandfather face had a grand gab session.
Jeannette May attended a birthday party at the home of her granddaughter, Jackie and John Thompson to celebrate her great grandson Tommy Thompson's second birthday. Jeannette said that Tommy received many gifts and enjoyed a tractor cake created by his mom, Jackie. Tommy shared the day with his big brother Tayten and probably with his uncles, grandfather, and dad who enjoy the toys as much as the boys.
Arlene Quail was at 1110 W. Main Street Restaurant in Troy, Friday evening where she celebrated her birthday with her daughters, Carol Segar, Sheryl Bahr, and Susie Quail, granddaughter, Janie and great great granddaughter, Sophia.
On Saturday, Arlene said she helped serve lunch at the Marine Corps Biker Rally which benefits the Toys for Kids event.
Jessie Herman reported that celebrity Elizabeth Taylor called on her Sunday. Actually, it was her niece Beth Graham Taylor who is sister of Bill Graham who of course is Jessie's nephew. So that means Jessie has visits from celebrities Elizabeth Taylor and Billy Graham. Leave it to Jessie to make every event fun. She is that kind of girl.
We have a new tenant on the third floor, Sally Johnson has a new companion. He is small, black and has a mustache and barks too much she said. I haven't met him yet. But I'm sure that he is cute!
On Sunday, Irma Earley, after attending Church services on the mountain, enjoyed lunch at the Iron Skillet in Sylvania. Irma also enjoyed visiting with her nieces, Nancy and Annette Machmer who were camping at County Bridge over the weekend.
Kathy Temple and her sister Bonnie Vanemon worked on crafts over the weekend and made lots of headway, she said. They have everything priced and almost all are completed.

Frances Kobbe had a nice time on Sunday visiting her granddaughter Corin Lewis at Corin's home. Frances' granddaughter Stephanie Rutty and great granddaughters Dreste and Sophia were there also. Frances said it wa so nice to see them all and watch the little ones at play.
I went with my son Dann and Wendy Lepper to Columbia Crossroads to attend a birthday celebration for Don Havens, who is now as old as me and that's pretty old. It was a pleasant time with many family members there to celebrate with him and enjoy the good food and of course Happy Birthday cake. No candles. They live too far from the fire department.
My granddaughter, Kelsey Lepper Hicks and Alivia Jo stopped in for a while this afternoon and great granddaughter Emily DeCristo also stopped in for a while to fix my TV remote.
It was good to have them here at the same time. They are discussing tech that this old grandma doesn't even know what they are talking about. I am so glad to have them around to help me out when I'm in trouble, because I'm never going to be able to catch up!
The pot luck supper was another successful event. Eighteen residents were out to enjoy the delicious meal. A few residents who have been "under the weather" were absent but for the most part had the meal taken to them.
Eric Smith gave the invocation before the meal this evening and five residents were acknowledged with celebrating September birthdays John Manahan, LaVonne McNett, Tillie Terry, Arlene Quail, and Esther Terwilliger.
All residents' cars are out in the lawn this morning as the parking area is being resurfaced.
Here is a poem from our resident poet, Carol Elston Cole:
Leaves of yellow, green and red
Float gently down from over
head.
Grapes are heavy on the vine;
And Autumn is apple picking
time.
