The Coffee Chat time on Thursday was well attended this last week. Ten folks were there for the popular hour. Kathy Temple brought her coconut birthday cake to share with everyone. All said it was delicious.
Steve Hartung, DPM, was here on Thursday to see his patients here and from the surrounding area.
Jeannette May spent last Tuesday in Elmira, NY with her daughter Barby Matthews. After an appointment, they stopped for lunch at her favorite Italian restaurant and did some shopping before heading home.
Arlene Quail reported that she was at her daughter Carol and Tom Sager's home in Athens for a family gathering over the weekend. Twelve family members and friends were there for the annual occasion, Arlene said.
Irma Earley's daughters Maxine Shedden and Debbie Elliot took their mother to Twin Oaks this last Tuesday to visit her brother, Paul Machmer, Sr.
On Saturday, Kathy Temple and her sister Bonnie traveled to Williamsport to visit their mother. They did a little shopping while there, also.
Sunday, Kathy said they spent the day working on wood craft projects in Bonnie's basement.
Mary Turner said that she went to TOPS to pick up a few groceries on Friday and on Sunday she was at her sister, Sarah Brown's home for a visit and lunch. While there, her sister helped her with some of her business affairs.
Mylo Smith and his sister Caroline Smith called on Jessie Herman this last Tuesday. Jessie commented that it was good to see Mylo doing so well since his recent heart surgery.
Charlotte Tillotson said that she very much enjoyed watching her great grandchildren when they showed their calves at the Troy Fair this week.
On Sunday, Charlotte had lunch with her daughter Faye and Brad Pepper.
On Thursday this past week, Richard and Barb Kobbe visited their mother Frances Kobbe.
Carol Bastion took her mother Frances to the fruit stand in Troy last week and also for some shopping at the Dollar Store.
I was visiting my son Ralph and Judy Lepper in LeRoy this last Tuesday and checked out their garden. Judy's sister Pam and John O'Brien from Florida are here visiting them and other friends in the area, so it was good to see them while I was there.
Eric and Beverly Smith left last Saturday, July 25 to attend the Hillsboro Christian Family Camp in Hillsboro, OH, July 27 to 30. On the way they stopped at Eric's sister, Etta Jean Kendall's home in Elkins, WV and visited and had supper with Etta Jean, Gary and Thom. They continued on to Beverly's sister-in-law, Jean Bush's home, arriving in Chesapeake, OH Saturday night. They stayed there until Monday morning. While there they visited with Jean, her son, Tim and wife Esther and their daughter, Araya. On Sunday they went to Chesapeake Christian Church with the family.
On Monday afternoon, July 27, they arrived at the motel. First, attended a banquet that evening held in a local church fellowship hall, receiving updates on what has taken place over the last year.
They went to the camp, attending the sessions each evening, Monday through Thursday and afternoon sessions, Tuesday through Thursday.
The program consisted of preaching, special music, devotions, and prayer, and congregational singing. It was a great time of fellowship with friends, making new friends, visiting with Beverly's brother, Art Bush who organized the music and led the singing. There were over 20 different messages.
On Friday, July 31, they began the trip back home stopping in Turtle Creek, PA to visit and dine with Beverly's first cousin, Gladys Garrick and daughter, Violet Ruth and her husband Vincent Ferri.
They continued, stopping in Central City, PA, where Eric had ministered for 15 years and visited Betty Becker, Shirley Sipe, and Bonnie Fleegle. They reached home late Friday night.
On August 2, they attended the Sylvania Church of Christ, where Eric led the service and brought the morning message.
