I know that Jeannette May and I enjoyed St. MIchael's Parish Picnic at Bulkley's Pond on Sunday. There was a good turn out and lots of good food to try. We even took time to walk one of the trails they have in the wooded area.
Of course the younger crowd was enjoying Ben's famous swimming pond and slide.
On our return home, we stopped at the home of Jeannette's daughter Barb and Barry Matthew's. Jeannette's grandsons, Brett, Brock, Jr., Bryon and Brendon were all there. So it was good to see them for a while before they took off for more exciting places. They all grew up when I wasn't looking.
Barb and Barry made a fire in the fire pit to make us S'mores, which we have been whining for and we enjoyed them in their beautiful backyard overlooking the creek.
Saturday evening, I went with Jeannette to a birthday party for her little great grandson Tayton Thompson. Tayton just turned four and his parents, John and Jacky Thompson had the party at their home in Roaring Branch.
Tayton had an original birthday cake made by his mother. It consisted of a Jello cake topped with a mud track, including the 4-wheelers. I'm pretty sure it was rather tasty also by the looks on Tayton's face as he was eating the frosting. His little brother Tommy received some gifts also and had just as much fun as his big brother.

LaVonne reported nice weather the whole time. On their return trip they made a stop at the L.L. Bean Store in Freeport, ME and were home, Friday, July 17. What a nice trip.

With hamburgers and hot dogs grilled by Kathy Temple, who also provided the grill, the residents of Cedar Ridge enjoyed the annual pot luck picnic here Monday evening. Twenty-two residents and Carol Cole's guest, Judy Dole, were present for the meal. Coordinator Roxie Holmes welcomed all and acknowledged Sally Johnson and Kathy Temple who are celebrating July birthdays. They were serenaded with the birthday song before Roxie gave a short report on community affairs and status of the finances.
Roxie also announced that she is giving up the job of coordinator after this month and is looking for a replacement. We regret her decision as she did a great job. However, we understand her decision and appreciate all that she has accomplished.
After the invocation, given by Kathie Lepper, all enjoyed the meal.
We have a poem written by our neighbor, Carol Cole:
And God Spoke
"I spoke to the clouds to bring
the rain;
I spoke to the sun to shine again;
I spoke to the plants so they
would grow.
I spoke to the sun to warm the
earth,
I spoke to the seeds to bring forth
new birth.
I spoke to the birds, they began
to sing;
Greetings God's blessing, a
brand new spring.
