I actually made some bread on Saturday in order to warm up my apartment. Of course I like the fragrance of baking bread and of course eating it.
I didn't get to Thursday Coffee Hour. My granddaughter Amy DeCristo came to visit for a while. I haven't seen her much lately and it was so good to see her. She has been so busy with her family and had just arrived home after a week at the beach, checking out their beach house there. Jeannette joined us also, so we had a nice chat time.
Pauline Watts said this morning that there were around ten residents there for coffee on Thursday.
Jeannette May says thanks for the barbecue chicken that Sue Baker was passing out on Sunday. She commented that it was very good.
Jeannette's niece-in-law, Pat Cole and her brother Oscar Withy paid her a visit Saturday afternoon.
When I saw Arlene Quail this morning she reported that she and Loretta Porter attended the senior citizens picnic in Troy on Thursday of last week.
After church services at Ward Church on Sunday, Irma Earley went for lunch with her daughter, Maxine and Dave Shedden at the Iron Skillet in Sylvania.
Kathy Temple reported that she and her sister Bonnie Vanemon spent a rainy Saturday at an auction near Nichols, NY. She said they spent most of the time in the car because of the rain while Bonnie's husband attended the auction.
Sunday, Kathy said she joined her sister Bonnie and brother-in-law, at the Vanemon family Reunion held at Pine Creek. A good time was had by all who attended in spite of all the rain, Kathy commented.
Carol Brown wrote that her sister Debbie visited her on Wednesday this last week. While here they spent some time with Carol's son Shawn and also her granddaughter Cheyene Fromille. Carol commented that it was a great visit catching up on all the family's happenings.
Carol also says thank you to all her awesome friends here on "The Ridge" since her surgery. Especially for all the prayers which are greatly appreciated. Carol said she is grateful for the food, it helped her to stay off her foot; and the cards which kept her busy for a while. We all wish her a speedy recovery.
Faye Pepper spent Sunday with her mother, Charlotte Tillotson. They attended church services at the Church of Christ after which they checked on Charlotte's garden there. Charlotte said they had lunch together and that it's a good day when your children come home.
Frances Kobbe had new hearing aids today. Her son Ron Kobbe took her to Towanda on Friday to pick them up at Miracle Ear in Wysox.
Jeannette May and I with Dann and Wendy Lepper attended the Troy Town Band Summer Concert conducted by Robert Oldroyd, Thursday evening after having dinner at 1110 W Main Street Restaurant, Troy.
Jeannette and I also checked out some of the yard sales going on around town. We found a couple items and enjoyed stopping for a treat at Flavorland as we were out and about.
Sunday, after Mass, I made breakfast for my son Roger and his children Kelsey and Jayson Hicks and little Alivia Jo. Like Charlotte said, "It's always a good day when your children come home."
My daughter, Debbie Foust stopped in for a while this morning. I was at Jeannette's apartment, but she found me. She and her family just returned home from the beach. They all had a great time, but it's always good to know that they are home safe. She brought us caramel corn from Stone Harbor. Yummy!
*** Poem from Carol Cole
Celebration
There's a celebration in Heaven
When a sinner reaches for the
Savior's hand;
When in tears he falls to his
knees, seeking a path to the
Heavenly land.
There's joy unknown when a
sinner comes seeking;
When at the foot of the cross he
is weeping;
There's a celebration in Heaven
When a sinner knows
He's forgiven and a child of
God comes home.
