Not too much news as I'm out and about here today.
An item in the news box from Charlotte Tillotson that she attended a graduation party at Pepper's Auction Barn for Alison Pepper who recently graduated from Towanda's Vo-Tech School. Congratulations to her!
On Tuesday this past week, I hosted a small birthday luncheon for my neighbor and friend Pauline Watts. Pauline is celebrating her 90th year this month and those of us who share her Daily Review want to thank her for that. Jeannette May, Arlene Quail, and myself celebrated with her with a small birthday cake and ice cream.
After Pauline left for home, my granddaughter Kelsey Hicks and great granddaughter Lini stopped in with eggs for me, so had lunch and cake with us also.
Quite a few residents were at Thursday's Coffee Hour. It's always a pleasant time.
Jeannette May and I were in Towanda on Wednesday and stopped at Shore Sisters for some produce. We found PA strawberries and fresh asparagus. Yummy!
Jeanette May and I also attended Father Michael McCormick's 30th anniversary celebration of his ordination to the Priesthood on Saturday at St. Michael's Church Hall. Many of his friends and parishioners from Williamsport, Troy and Canton were there to honor him.
Jeannette's children, Barb, Barry, and Brett Matthews came later on Saturday and helped her set up her new TV and of course move some things around.
Irma Earley recently attended the 66th Machmer Reunion. Attendance was good she said and the food great. There were 87 family members present.
Thursday, Irma's daughter Maxine stopped in with her great grandchildren Sam and Noah Shedden so they could visit their great grandmother Irma.
Irma attended the graveside service for her dear friend Janet Segur, Saturday this past week.
Mary Turner reported that her sister Sarah Brown drove her to Sayre, Saturday to grocery shop at Aldi's. Afterward they had lunch at Grace's Chinese Restaurant. Mary said they ran into her sister Carol Machmer with her daughter Erin while there, so they joined them for lunch.
Sunday, Mary said she attended the movie "Jurassic World". It was very good, she commented.
Frances Kobbe has been busy all week. Her daughter Karen Kelly from Florida is here visiting family and friends so they have been on the go.
Saturday they were at the Bradford County Manor to take part in their festivities. France's son Ed Kobbe took her and Karen to that event where Frances' son Richard Kobbe had his wood carvings available.
Sunday, they enjoyed a backyard family picnic at the home of Steve and Carol Bastion in Alba.
Frances also commented that her daughter Carol Bastion and Karen Kelly surprised her by joining her at church services, Sunday.
Saturday afternoon, Arlene Quail attended her alumni banquet at the fire hall in Shunk. Arlene said 55 class members attended and that the number is less each year.
Cedar Ridge coordinator, Roxie Holmes welcomed 24 residents and their guests to the pot luck supper this Monday evening.
She then acknowledged Pauline Watts and Linda Wood who are celebrating June birthdays and they were serenaded with the birthday song. Roxie then gave a short report on the status of the community finances.
Carol Cole gave the invocation before the meal this evening and all enjoyed the delicious food and camaraderie.
A little "bird" told me this morning that a very special couple, Brad and Faye Pepper are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary on Thursday, the 18th of this month. Congratulations to both of them.
"Walking With the Lord"
I'm here to share your sorrow;
I understand your pain;
I'll help you bear your burdens and
find your joy again.
Keep looking up, my children;
Remember the promises I made;
Don't hang your head in misery,
And please don't be afraid.
