The ten residents at Coffee Chat Time on Thursday were saying how nice Glen Trick's vintage red sport car looks as he has been out and about with it during the car show, etc. Kinda perks things up in the parking lot. Good job, Glen.
Jeannette May and I want to thank our Cedar Ridge neighbors for helping with the Mile of Pennies event, which raises money for the Canton War Memorial Pool. This past Friday, Charlotte Tillotson, Roxie Holmes, Carol Brown,and Esther Terwilliger from here helped and others from the community who helped; Joyce Meeker, Donna Packard, and the Blackbums. After attending Mass on Sunday, Jeannette and I went with my son Dann and Wendy Lepper to Sylvania to check out Seeley's Popcorn and Ice Cream place. So many kinds of popcorn to choose from. Very interesting. We drove around for a while, visited with the Havens and Oldroyds at their farm for awhile, then checked out the fancy horse barn in the area before heading home.
Arlene Quail spent a couple of weeks with her daughter, Susie and Tim in LaPorte, PA. It's good to have her home, at least for a while.
Wednesday of last week found LaVonne McNett and daughter Mary Tice touring Canton for a place to eat lunch. First was Kelley's Creek Side, but a note on the door said closed due to an emergency. Back uptown to Flavorland to find out they are not open on Wednesdays. Where to next? A nice large salad called them to the Subway, which was very busy with a large order. After 10 minutes waiting and visiting, their lunch came and they had a good laugh for the day.
They went to Mead's to shop for some flowers for Mary's garden at her home to close out their tour.
Saturday, LaVonne was in Elmira with Dave and Mary Tice to attend a 50th wedding anniversary celebration for her niece Sandy and Don Jones of Avoca, NY.
Irma Earley's daughter Debbie Elliot took Irma for a doctor's appointment, Tuesday, this past week.
Friday, Debbie and Irma drove around town looking for a "buy" at the rummage sales going on.
Thursday, Kathy Temple was at her sister Bonnie Vanemon's home in order to watch a cabin for Bonnie's son Mike being delivered and set up. "What a sight to see a cabin going up in a day's time," Kathy said.
Saturday, Kathy Temple, her sister Bonnie, and Carol Brown attended an auction in Wysox which benefits the Rome Christian School. They bought lots of flower bulbs, some of which they planted here on "The Ridge." The rest they planted at Bonnie's home in Grover.
Carol Cole reported that she attended an awesome family reunion at Harris Hill this last weekend. She said at least 50 family members were there. The weather was perfect and everyone wants a repeat of the event next year. Even the dogs were there, she commented.
Carol Brown reported that she attended the 6th grade promotion, Wednesday evening. Carol's granddaughter Haylee Fromille was promoted to 7th grade with her class. Carol commented how proud she is of Haylee. Congratulations Haylee! Your Cedar Ridge friends are proud of you also. Keep up the good work.
Friday evening Carol attended her granddaughter Cheyenne Fromille's graduation from Canton HIgh School and is so proud of her also. That's a milestone in life! Congratulations Cheyenne and best of luck in all that your choose to do!
Charlotte Tillotson attended 6th grade graduation for her grandson Derek Atherton-Ely and on Saturday celebrated with him and his family at a party.
Sunday, Faye Pepper took her mother, Charlotte Tillotson, Jackie Wesneski, and Helen Reed to LeRoy where the LeRoy Baptist Church had a service for graduates. The graduates all received Bibles and were served a very nice luncheon by the ladies of the church after the services.
Frances Kobbe reported that her daughter Karen Kelly arrived in Pennsylvania this morning from Florida. Karen will spend a week in the area with her mother, visiting family and friends.
Barb Kobbe drove Frances to Wysox for a hearing check at Miracle Ear this last week.
Five residents turned out to play bingo in the community room this Monday evening with Kathy Temple calling the numbers. Carol Brown was the winner of the cover all.
