I'm off to a good start this morning, Kathy Temple put her news in the mailbox to get me going. She wrote that she and her sister Bonnie Vanemon traveled to the Philadelphia area on Thursday to attend grandparent-VIP day at Kathy's grandniece's school. The kindergarten and first grade performed several musical numbers. What a wonderful time, Kathy commented.
They returned home on Friday and after church services on Sunday, they drove to Picture Rocks in order to attend a baby shower for Kathy's niece who is expecting a baby girl soon.
Kathy said that she and her sister Bonnie had a wonderful time at both outings.
There were twelve residents present at coffee hour this past Thursday.
Jeannette May said that she enjoyed the day with her children Barb and Barry Matthews and Becky and Dr. Scott, Friday. They spent the day sightseeing the area and stopped at the Forksville Store Restaurant for lunch and checked out the old village while there. Jeannette said they have it nice over there and the food was excellent.
Since the Scotts are leaving for their home in Cape Coral, FL, Saturday morning. I went with Jeannette for pizza at Barb and Barry Matthews home with other family members to see them, Friday evening.
This last Thursday, Irma Earley and her daughter Debbie Elliot took a ride to see Paul Machmer Sr., who resides at Twin Oaks in Granville Summit.
Carol Cole said she is going to Williamsport with her daughter Jeanne Summers, Tuesday to do some shopping.
Carol Brown reported that she attended her granddaughter's Haylee's softball games, Saturday afternoon. She watched her play in LaPorte.
Carol commented that in all the games the whole team played wonderfully. She said the most exciting game to watch was Saturday against LaPorte. She wasn't sure who would win until the last game, they were so evenly matched.
Wade and Dorothy Graham called on Jessie Herman, Sunday. Jessie said that they brought her some delicious homemade muffins.
On Saturday Jessie's son Jim Herman was here to see her.
Charlotte Tillotson wrote that she, along with her son Jim and Sue Tillotson and Faye Pepper attended the 90th birthday party for Mike Austin at the Vets Club in Troy, Saturday.
This last Sunday after attending Mass, I prepared breakfast for my children, Ralph Lepper, Debbe and Denny Foust, and sister Jeannette May.
Frances Kobbe told me that she had a quiet week, but her son-in-law, Steve Bastion took her for an appointment with Dr. Husband at the Arnot Medical Center in Troy one day last week.
I was impressed with the Wyalusing Valley High School Senior, Keon Copp, who wrote the essay "Why is a local newspaper important to a community?" Anyone who appreciates their local newspapers should read it. It was in the May 17th Sunday Review.
Eric Smith reported that May has been a very busy month for him. He has been building fences and planting a garden. He planted a garden for his sister Caroline over Mother's Day and they celebrated the day at their homestead having their mother's favorite food, chicken and biscuits for themselves, Beverly and Mylo Smith.
Carolyn and Beverly attended the Mother's Day Tea at the Grover Church of Christ while the men attended Sunday School, Eric said.
Eric and Beverly Smith attended the Grover Church of Christ Memorial Day service on May 24th. Eric reported that it was an inspirational service with guest speaker and music to honor veterans.
After the service a picnic luncheon was provided for those attending in the fellowship hall.
